The City of Grand Prairie
Conveniently located between Dallas and Fort Worth, Grand Prairie is a big town with small-town appeal. Legend has it that the city got its name from a famous actress who exclaimed “My, what a grand prairie!” as she stepped off the train. While still grand, the area has experienced tremendous growth. Wide-open spaces share real estate with some of the best entertainment venues in Texas including Lone Star Park and Nokia Theater. Catching a Rangers game or visiting Six Flags in Arlington just takes minutes.
Of course, the highlight for most residents is Joe Pool Lake and all of the hike and bike trails that surround it. Grand Prairie is truly a playground for people of all ages. Families also appreciate the quality schools that are part of the Mansfield Independent School District.
